We decided to take this tour based on all the positive reviews and were not disappointed. We were picked up from our hotel bright and early in an air conditioned van. We were driven to the coffee plantation where we had the opportunity to sample various tea and coffee and was given delicious homemade pancakes for breakfast. We did not feel pressured to buy anything at the souvenir shop. Then we made a photo stop at a hilltop with views of Mount Batur and Lake Batur, before making a short drive to the place where we started our cycling.
The mountain bikes were in excellent condition and most of the ride was downhill which was pretty easy going (on the legs at least) - the main challenge was dealing with the heat as we were cycling under the midday sun. There was a relatively small portion of cycling on the main road shared with cars but Bob took good care of us and always made sure the cars passed us safely. We passed by many small villages and rice paddy fields and made frequent stops where Bob told us stories and explained to us the Balinese way of life. The trip ended with a delicious feast (way more food than we could eat) at Bob's house cooked by his wife.
Bob is so passionate about sharing his culture with people and really looked after us throughout the trip. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see the real Bali.
