This was a great day out even though it rained solidly. We were picked up promptly at eight and taken by car to the coffee plantation to taste the Luwak coffee among others. Great coffee tasting experiences though the assistants were a bit pushy about buying the coffee. Bought some coffee, tea and incense. Then onward to the top of the volcano which was shrouded in cloud so I can't comment on that. Dewar (or BOB, from Bali on Bike) and his driver then took us to a quiet area to set up the bikes. They were good quality and easy to ride. There were only two of us on the day and so the driver followed behind while we mostly freewheeled the trail. Dewar stopped many times to show us temples and local crafts going on along the route. He had ponchos when the rain got especially heavy which was handy. The last part of the ride was the most interesting from Ubud to Dewar's village which meanders through rice paddies and is extremely picturesque. A great day was topped off by an amazing hot meal prepared by Dewar's wife, Eka, a couple of beers and a chat about current affairs in Bali. Dewar is a clever and interesting person who clearly loves Bali and catering to tourists. I would highly recommend Bali On Bikes. Thanks Dewar and Eke.
